Fish Story
Jan 17, 2023In going through the news feed, I came across a story in the Mexican publication, “El Mañana.” The story was regarding a man that caught a large alligator gar along the Rio Grande River.
Along with the article was a video of the fisherman that caught the fish. The video is in Spanish; however, there is a part where the man who caught the fish says,
“I have never caught a gar of this size.” He then went on to explain the equipment he used by saying, “I don’t know what exactly I used. I just buy them and use them.”
I chuckled at the statement, but he brought up a good point.
How much time do we spend online looking at Top 10 lists of equipment to use on a certain project? I’ve caught myself making countless searches such as,
“What are the best running shoes?”
“What are the best brushes to use to paint?”
“What is the best desk organizer?”
There is nothing wrong with being prepared for a new task. But ask yourself, how long have
you spent time doing the research versus how much time have you spent doing the task?
The hardest step is to get started. But with consistency and determination, you’ll improve with or without the best equipment. The man in the video was not looking for the best equipment. He decided he would go fishing with what he had. With consistency and determination, he came home with the prize.
